I have wanted to start a blog for a long time and am now finally getting around to it! We waited a long time for this sweet baby girl, so I wanted to write about her birth and the details leading up to it. Brynlee was breech at my 36 week appointment, so they talked about trying to turn her at week 39. I don't know why but I never had a good feeling about them trying to turn her. So I guess my only option was a C-section, which I didn't particularly want either. What to do? I just wanted her here the safest way. My doctors recommended trying to turn her so we made an appointment for Monday the 4th to talk more about it with them; because if we were going to turn her, it could be no later than wed the 6th. I started having contractions during sacrament meeting on Super Bowl Sunday that were about 15-20 min apart. We went to Danny’s uncle Davy’s house for the game, and it was a little rough, they lasted all night long. On Monday Danny got home from work and we went to the appointment to decide about turning her. I told the doctor about my contractions so he checked to see if I was dilated, which I was but only a 1. I'm not kidding almost immediately after he checked me my contractions started getting stronger and closer together. He said that there was going to be a 60% chance they could turn her. That percentage wasn't good enough for me so we decided to do a C-section on Thursday afternoon. We left and I wanted to shop for a few things to get my bag ready for the hospital, but my contractions were getting worse so I thought I should take it easy and go another day. We went over to Danny's parents and ate dinner and my contractions were 5-10 min apart. We went home and got ready for bed and started timing my contractions with a stop watch 3-5 min apart. I called the hospital and they told me to come right in. Danny and I rushed to get our things together. Danny is literally running back and forth. It was so fun and exciting! We got to the hospital at 10 p.m. I could hardly walk they were so bad. I got offered two wheelchairs, but toughed it out. The nurse checked me and then the doctor came in and checked me (I was thinking... not again that's the third time today and it doesn't feel good) Doctor said there is no way we can turn her, her bum is so far down it's not moving you are going to have to do a C-section....um yes I had that feeling! The doctor says let’s see if these contractions keep up and I'll be back in an hour. Danny enjoyed playing, who can tell when I’m having a contraction first, by him watching the monitor vs. my expressions. I'm dying because my contractions are 1 1/2 min apart. 20 min later doctor comes in and says what are we waiting for? It seems like you're in lots of pain, how about we get this party started. Dan and I were thinking the same thing 20 min ago!! It is now 11:15 and the Doctor said I only have one question. What day do we want to have a birthday? I said I don’t care because I didn't want them to rush anything, and to just see what happens. So off to the operating room, I was so nervous, yet excited! At 12:01 a.m. Tuesday February 5th Baby Brynlee was finally here 6 lbs. 1 oz. 19 1/2 inches long. I loved my hospital stay! All my nurses were so extremely nice and helpful.
Danny just loves his baby Brynlee! He was so sad when he had to leave the next day for work.
This is Sherrie my favorite nurse. She was so sweet to Brynlee, Danny, and I. She gave Brynlee a cute blanket her mother had made and also a cute fleece blanket.
